Design studies ยท Round 1

Richard Campbell

Five directions for richardcampbell.uk. Each opens in a new tab. Pick the elements you like from each; nothing here is final.

  1. Design A

    Still

Silence. One sentence. A blush field. The page breathes.

One long page on a warm field. One thought per screen, fog behind the first sentence, the four steps on a blush block.

  2. Design B

    Note

Wit. Lined paper, highlighter, a tilted note. It feels like writing to someone.

A letter from Rich on ruled paper, with margin notes in his own words, a highlighter on the lines that matter, and index cards for the practical bit.

  3. Design C

    Ground

Authority without coldness. Cream, a deep colour, a huge serif, a monogram.

A slate header band, one enormous serif line, editorial label-and-text rows, a fees table and an RC monogram. A practice with a name.

  4. Design D

    Air

Silence again, but cool and bare. The only design that opens on no picture at all.

One centred column on a pale blue-grey field. The first sentence alone on the opening screen, then one thought at a time. Nothing is boxed; form fields are hairlines.

  5. Design E

    Canopy

A photograph first. Slate bands top and bottom, a huge serif over the trees.

The lane into the woods fills the first screen with one line across it, then the page settles onto solid ground: a document-like column, numbered steps and a slate footer.
